NCGrowth partnered with Montgomery County Economic Developer Amanda Whitaker to assist the county in planning for future industrial sites. The project team produced a set of maps for the county to use in prioritizing economic development investments and in working with potential clients.
The county currently has two industrial sites certified with the NC Department of Commerce. Four additional industrial areas were compared by the project team. Access to highways, infrastructure and current ownership were taken into account for each area, giving a sense of which area is most marketable for a future site and the level of investment needed. NCGrowth Advisory Board Member Mary Lilley of Greenfield Community & Economic Development Company advised the project.
