NC Growth Welcomes Summer Interns

NC Growth has brought on six exceptional interns to work on economic development projects this summer in rural North Carolina.
Jasmine Colquitt and Candace Harrington are students at North Carolina Central University. Jasmine is a dual JD/MBA student who received her BA in economics from UNC-Chapel Hill.  This summer she is also a Legislative Intern with the office of Senator Angela Bryant in Raleigh.  Candace is an undergraduate business student and Eagle Ambassador.  She has extensive customer service experience and a passion for community development.
Chris Long and Jessie Maxwell are Kenan-Flagler MBA students who have interned with the Kenan Institute since last year. A graduate of Wake Forest University, Chris worked for BB&T before pursuing his MBA with a focus on finance.  Jessie graduated from Dartmouth and served with Teach for America in Bertie County. She is also pursuing an MPP from Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy.
A recent graduate of UNC’s City and Regional Planning Master’s program, Carolyn Fryberger has expertise in economic impact modeling of public investments for community and economic development. Prior to graduate school Carolyn worked as a program administrator of community wellness initiatives for local government in Western North Carolina.
Ashley Brown just completed her Master’s at UNC in Public Administration and Information and Library Science. After earning a BA in Journalism and History from Indiana University – Bloomington she served as an AmeriCorps member in Nashville and interned with the Town of Carrboro, NC Manager’s Office. She has been working with Research Services at the Kenan Institute since January.
